James Smith, Comox Valley Realtor

James Smith was born and raised in Montreal. After graduation from Loyola High School he attended John Abbott College, graduated with Honours and then attended Bishop’s University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Political Science. After graduation he moved to whistler to pursue a life long dream of extreme skiing. While living in Whistler he trained and worked as a Japanese Teppanyaki chef. After four years in Whistler James moved to Vancouver and worked in the Vancouver Film Industry as a technician and struggled as an independent filmmaker and writer. When faced with the choice of Los Angeles or a new life on Vancouver Island the obvious choice was made.

The Comox Valley was the second home of James, Barb and their family of three young boys for ten years. James’ in-laws Harry and Hazel Nixon had been residents of Union Bay for over 20 years. James and his family spent weeks at a time visiting and exploring the Valley. It was James’ exposure to the incredible recreational opportunities available in the Comox Valley that helped him realize that this was a paradise and the perfect place to raise an active family who loved the outdoors. After three years of living in the Valley he and his family have not looked back and love their new home. The boys are in a great school with fabulous teachers. There are great soccer, karate, ski racing programs that his boys are involved with and endless hiking trails that the family can enjoy together.

James and his family settled in the Union Bay area of the Valley. James quickly became involved with the community and was elected a trustee in the Union Bay Improvement District where he has sat on the Fire Committee, currently sits on the Water Board and the committee to build a new Fire Hall. He was recently appointed to sit as the Improvement Districts’ representative on the local Area Planning Committee. One of the biggest factors in the decision to move to the Comox Valley was the goal to be involved and to know that by being involved a difference can be made in your community. James is very proud of the time he has invested in the community of Union Bay and he looks forward to many more years of service. James’ involvement in local issues has not only made him an expert on the southern part of the Valley but he pays very close attention to the political and social environment of every part of the Valley. By paying attention to the political climate of the various parts of the Valley, he has developed an excellent understanding of which areas show the greatest potential for growth.

James has proved himself to be a top producer in not only his company but across the Comox Valley. In his first year as a Realtor he smashed the previous sales record for a first year Realtor in Coast Realty Group. His second year continued to be an award winning year. Going into James third year he looks forward to developing raw land, working with builders on multi unit new construction as well as serving his many highly satisfied past clients. James has had an outstanding track record of selling homes for record sales prices in their class and negotiating great deals for his buyers.
